We are excited to announce that the St. John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival will still be held this year! We know that many of our young people are looking forward to speaking about our Orthodox Faith, and we are so thankful and blessed not to have to deny them of that opportunity. We are all ears! In order to make this happen, we have made some adjustments.
Parish Festivals – March:
Parishes may choose to hold live and socially-distanced festivals, live Zoom festivals, or video submission festivals. Parishes have until March 31st to complete their parish festival.
District Festivals – April:
All Districts except the Bay Area/Northern California District will be hosting video submission festivals.
The Bay Area/Northern California District will host an in-person festival with COVID restrictions on Sunday, April 11, 2021. See information for Bay Area District Chairpersons.
All other Districts have until May 8 to complete their District festival. See information for District ChairpersonsDistrict Chairpersons (not Bay Area)
Metropolis Festival – May:
The videos of finalists in the Southern California, Pacific Northwest, Eastern California and Southwest Districts will be automatically advanced to judging at the Metropolis level.
Bay area District finalists will be asked to submit a video of their speech for judging no later than April 25. (See information for Bay Area District Finalists.)
On Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 10:00 am Pacific time, the metropolis-level speakers and judges will be introduced at a live Zoom meeting, at which time metropolis finalists will also be announced.
National Festival – June:
The National level Oratorical Festival will take place live via Zoom on June 12, 2021.
